About Japanese Reiki

Japanese Reiki, a spiritual healing practice, emerged from the teachings of Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. Usui, seeking spiritual enlightenment, is said to have received the Reiki symbols and principles on Mount Kurama. While influenced by various spiritual traditions, including some scholars suggest connections to Shinto, Japanese Reiki emphasizes simplicity and intuition. It focuses on the natural flow of Ki, or life force energy, within the body. Practitioners learn specific hand placements and techniques to facilitate this flow, promoting self-healing and balance. Unlike some Western adaptations, Japanese Reiki often incorporates elements of traditional Japanese culture and spirituality. While direct evidence linking Usui’s Reiki to specific Shinto practices is debated, the emphasis on nature, energy, and spiritual connection resonates with certain Shinto beliefs.
